The Go for Life Grant Scheme is a joint initiative between Age & Opportunity's Go for Life programme and the Irish Sports Council. The scheme is aimed at encouraging older people to get involved in sport and physical activity and is used by groups to buy equipment, run sports events or to try new activities. Now in its fourteenth year, it has so far awarded over 4.5 million in almost 10,000 grants during its lifetime.

Twenty-three older adults from Dolmen Active Retirement and Respond Housing Services proved that Waterford people are never too old to pick up a hurl by participating in a Caman Abu Blitz hosted by Waterford Sports Partnership and Waterford GAA on Friday 5th December in Rainbow Hall, Kilmacthomas.

Irish Sports Council issues 2013 SPEAK Monitoring & Evaluation Report on Local Sports Partnerships
The Irish Sports Council recently published the seventh SPEAK Report, which provides an overview of the operations of the national network of 31 Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs) in 2013. The LSPs, an initiative of the Irish Sports Council, aim to increase participation in sport and to ensure that local resources are used to best effect.

Discover the Tramore Dunes
The final walk in the 'Walk Waterford Autumn Series' will take place on Sunday 19th October at 11am along the Tramore Dunes. This is a lovely 5km walk with magnificent views along the coast. Please be aware, however, that this walk is on an uneven path and includes some gravel, shingle, stones and sand paths which are not suitable for buggies.

Waterford Sports Partnership was delighted to see such a great turnout for the second walk in the Autumn Series on Sunday 28th September. Twenty eight people, including babies in buggies, young children and seasoned walkers attended the 4.6km looped walk in Stradbally to celebrate the Irish Heart Foundation's Happy Hearts Day.

Minister Michael Ring TD, Minister of State for Sport and Tourism today launched the Volunteers in Sport Awards 2014 at the Aviva Stadium. An initiative of the Federation of Irish Sport in conjunction with the Irish Sports Council, the Department of Tourism, Transport and Sport and The Community Foundation of Ireland, the Volunteers in Sport Awards are run to honour the work of volunteers in Irish sport.
