Bike for Life for Teenage Girls - sign up today!

Are you a 16-18 year old girl who would like to improve your cycling skills and have some fun this summer? Then Bike for Life is for you!
Waterford Sports Partnership (WSP) is hosting an exciting new cycling programme for beginner level 16-18 year old girls in Dungarvan this summer. Bike for Life is a Cycling Ireland programme that aims to teach riders the skills and techniques necessary to cycle confidently. The Bike for Life programmes that WSP ran previously in 2013 with adult females were a great success, so WSP decided that a girl only Bike for Life programme would be ideal to encourage more teenage girls to get involved in cycling with a view to taking part in the Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford in 2014.

The programme will start on July 9th , and will run for 7 weeks leading up to the goal of completing the 50km Kelly Cruise on August 24th . Participants will take part in one weekly training session every Wednesday at 6pm in St. Augustine’s College comprising of a skills practice which will cover a variety of topics including preparing for a ride, road safety awareness, bike handling, bike maintenance and nutrition. The group will then head out on a spin to put these skills into practice, with the distance increasing each week so the group can build up to the 50km distance slowly. The sessions will be led by trained Bike for Life Leaders, a number of whom took part in the ladies Bike for Life programme in 2013, so the group will be able to increase their skills and confidence in a safe, supportive and fun environment. Participants must own a helmet to take part but bikes will be available on loan if needed. The cost of the programme is €30 which includes entry to the spins, training manual, Cycling Ireland insurance and entry to the 50km Kelly Cruise.

There are only twelve places available so come on girls, get your application form in now!

To sign up, simply complete the application form and return with the €30 fee
