The organisers are asking individuals and groups to get involved, either by running part of the course (through An Sean Phobal, An Rinn, Dún Garbhán and Dún na Mainistreach) or by simply coming out to cheer people on along the course. Help us to ensure that the Co. Waterford leg of this 700 km nonstop relay run from Cork to Belfast will be one of the best-supported sections of the event.
Here is the route and the schedule for Rith 2014 na nDéise:
Starting off in An Sean Phobal (09.30am), on to An Rinn, stopping off at the GAA Pitch (10.00am), on through An Rinn as far as the N25. On then to Dungarvan (Nissan Garage Roundabout @ 11am+), on to St Mary’s NS and down through the Square, Walton Park (11.30am) on out the Track (as per the map), past Scoil Garbhán as far as the N25.
Rith 2014 will then continue on to Bunmahon (1pm), Tramore (1.30pm) and Waterford City (2.30pm).* Everyone is welcome to take part in Rith 2014 and we are asking you and your group/club to be a part of this event when it comes to the Déise.
* Times (other than the starting time in An Sean Phobal) are approximate and may vary slightly on the day.
The specially-commissioned relay-baton, which will be carried the entire length of the Rith 2014 route, will include a special message of hope for the Irish language from President Michael D Higgins. Rith 2014 will pass through 14 counties from the 7-15 March, starting off in Baile Bhuirne, Co Cork.
