Next walk Dunmore East Coastal Walk - Sunday March 9th

Waterford Sports Partnership held the fourth walk in the Walk Waterford Spring Series on Sunday 2nd March, in Colligan Wood, near Dungarvan. Despite the very wet conditions fifteen participants attended this walk.
The walk was led by WSP staff and trained walking leaders. This beautiful Coillte forest is at the foothills of the Comeragh Mountains near Dungarvan.  These woods boast a variety of walks and also an ideal picnic spot by the Colligan River.

There are three options of walking trails here.  There is a short flat stretch along the river bank which is guaranteed to leave even the most stressed feeling a bit more relaxed and refreshed.  There is also the choice of two marked National Looped Trails - the Inchadrisla Loop of 3.5km (1hr 15 mins) and the more challenging Greenane Loop of 6km (1hr 45 mins).  The whole group opted to do the Greenane Loop, well done everyone!

We are now looking forward to the final walk in the Walk Waterford Spring Series. So far we have strolled around the Kilbarry Nature Park, discovered all the Cliff Walk (Ardmore) had to offer, meandered through the Anne Valley, trekked through Colligan Woods and now onto explore Dunmore East’s Coastal Walk this Sunday 9h March at 10am, meeting in the public car park above the harbour.

This trail follows cliff top paths to the picturesque Portally Cove. It is an easy ramble with spectacular view and even a Kittiwake colony on route.   It is a linear trail, approximately 4km in length and will take around an hour to complete. It is suitable for most walkers as it is mainly flat however there are a few steps at the beginning of the walk, two or three small rises and a gravel type footpath.
All walkers will need suitable walking shoes (runners are ideal), warm clothing and a waterproof jacket. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
