The Go for Life Small Grant Scheme is now open. The scheme is aimed at encouraging older participants and is used by groups to buy equipment, run sports events or try new activities. Applications have already begun to arrive from groups and clubs that cater to older people across Ireland.
The Small Grant Scheme is a joint initiative between Age & Opportunity’s Go for Life programme and the Irish Sports Council. Now in its eleventh year, it has, so far, awarded almost €4million in nearly 8,000 grants. This year, €300,000 will be allocated to groups and clubs. Each grant awarded will be between €300 and €700.
The grant scheme provides funding towards the purchasing of equipment or activity programmes. This grant scheme has been hugely successful in the past with €7805 being awarded to twenty-four older adults groups in Waterford in 2012.
If you have any questions, or if would like a grant form, please contact WSP on 058 21199.
The closing date for applications is Friday, 27 September 2013. Application forms are available on the Age & Opportunity website www.ageandopportunity.ie or from the Go for Life office on 01 805 7733.
Go for Life is the national programme for sport and physical activity for older people. Go for Life is an Age & Opportunity initiative which is funded by the Irish Sports Council.
