Basketball Coaching Course

Waterford Sports Partnership, in conjunction with Basketball Ireland, delivered an Introductory Basketball Coaching Course last weekend (8th/9th March).
Waterford now has an extra twenty people certified as Basketball coaches with participants coming from a range of backgrounds such as 5th Year Presentation School Students, School Completion Project Workers, Volunteer Coaches from Vikings Basketball Club and Teachers from Mount Sion and Waterpark Schools

The eight hour course was facilitated by Michael Evans, a coach with almost 35 years experience in Basketball, which took place in the impressive, newly refurbished sports hall in the Presentation Secondary School. Michael covered the basic Basketball fundamentals such as ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, individual defense & offense, team defense & offense and transitional play.

Waterford Sports Partnership would like to thank Michael for his excellent delivery of the course and also the Presentation Secondary school for the use their fantastic facilities. It was great to see such enthusiasm amongst the participants, particular amongst the six young girls from Presentation School. It looks like the future of Basketball in Waterford is safe if these girls have anything to say about it!
