Waterford Sports Partnership in association with WIT Arena is delighted to be organising Waterford's inaugural SportsAbility Day on Saturday 14th April from 11am to 2pm in WIT Arena, Carriganore, Waterford.
There will be a wide range of 'Come & Try it' sessions on offer including Wheelchair Rugby, Athletics, Boccia, Wheelchair Basketball, Fun & Run (GAA), Football for All, Yoga and Blind Tennis just to name a few. There will be more that twenty information stands from a wide range of clubs & organisations and there will also be a sensory room on site for any visitors who need some quiet time during the day.
Mairead O’ Sullivan (Senior Paediatric Dietician) with the HSE will provide two nutrition workshops on “The Importance of Fluid Intake”. A Questions and Answers session with three key speakers (Mary Fitzgerald, Jim Walsh and Eileen Simpson) will take place focusing on the impact that sport and physical activity has had on their lives.
This FREE event is suitable for people with a disability of all ages, their families, parents, teachers, sports coaches, youth club leaders and anyone interested in sport. Representatives from local sports clubs, leisure facilities and disability organisations will be on hand to provide information support and advice on what is happening in Waterford at present.
