The WSP Club Development Seminar Series in conjunction with the IRFFU and Munster Rugby continued on Monday 23rd January, forty four people from fourteen clubs representing 8 sports/organisations attended a Concussion Awareness seminar delivered by Shane Mooney from the IRFU in WIT Sports Arena.
The seminar provided the participants with some essential knowledge about concussions including what causes a concussion, how to treat and how to recognise a concussion.
Seminar participant Michael Hanlon, a lecturer from WIT, said 'the Seminar was very informative and I would highly recommend it. It was great the way the presenter brought examples from his own personal and professional experience from the amateur to the professional game.
The key points I took from this talk were the recognition of the signs and symptoms of concussion and acknowledging that signs and symptoms can be quiet varied.'
Gavin Lonergan from De La Salle FC said the session was 'very informative, interesting and well presented.' Kate Moran a student from WIT, said that the talk was very educational and enlightening even with no experience in rugby or contact sport she found the information valuable.
