Following on from a Rugby Programme implemented by Waterford Sports Partnership and Munster Rugby in November 2012, Mount Sion School (a school steeped in GAA tradition) continued with this activity, once a week.
Their first ever match was against Waterford City Rugby Club’s U-15 team. Scrums and Lineout’s were uncontested, but this did not impact on the pace and skill displayed by both teams. To the neutral observer, one would find it hard to comprehend that Mount Sion only started playing Rugby in November 2012, eventually winning the game on a scoreline of 22-27!

Waterford Sports Partnership would like to thank Waterford City Rugby Club for hosting this historic event and to Munster Rugby for donating a starter pack and for facilitating a number of coaching sessions in the school.
