Walk Waterford - Waterford Nature Park

Waterford Nature Park, Kilbarry, Waterford City’s newest Park was a hive of activity on National Trails Day last Sunday 7th October. There were strollers, cyclists, and people on scooters, joggers, rollerbladers and of course Waterford Sports Partnership’s Walk Waterford group.
The Park is situated on the Tramore Road near Superquinn, the car park entrance is via the Kingfisher Club. On Sunday we were spoiled for choice as the park boasts four different trails. As a group we decided to mix and match the trails as they are all interlinked to make sure we enjoyed a leisurely but invigorating stroll of at least 60 minutes. There are many features and highlights in this fully accessible amenity, viewing points, picnic areas, distance markers and biodiversity information boards to name a few. Some of the group even tried out a few of the Trim Trail Stations that are located at various spots along the way.  If you have not had a chance to visit this park yet make sure to put it on you ‘to do’ list, it is amazing.

This weeks Walk Waterford recreational walk will be in Crough Wood, Mahon Bridge on Sunday 14th October, 2pm.  This is a tranquil 3km Coillte forest walk developed by the Comeragh Community Development Group, it incorporates a steady incline which is suitable for most but at your own pace. We will be meeting at the entrance to Crough Wood which is on the right hand side as you head towards Mahon Falls via Mahon Bridge (if you reach the magic road/fairy tree/cattle grid, you have gone to far). Keep an eye out for the Waterford Sports Partnership sign.  Look forward to seeing you there.
