Sports Club Participation Grant

Waterford Sports Partnership identified the need to assist already established clubs in increasing their membership and providing physical activity opportunities in the three key target areas of youth, over 35s and disability. The Sports Club Participation Grant was advertised recently with a maximum club allocation of €400 from a total fund of €2000.
Whilst this is still a relatively small grant scheme, Waterford Sports Partnership is confident this
can build on the successful 2011 grant where eight successful clubs ran programmes to entice 928 individuals to their clubs which included 243 new members. In 2012, there were some excellent applications amongst the twenty six applicants and Waterford Sports Partnership awarded grant monies to the eight successful clubs listed below.

Ciara Griffin from Ardmore Ladies Football club said about the allocation of funds to the club;
"The Ardmore/Grange Gaelic for Mothers & Others Club was delighted to be a recipient of a Club Grant from Waterford Sports Partnership. The grant was very important to us, as it assisted us to purchase equipment that we couldn't otherwise afford. Being able to purchase our own footballs, training bibs and jerseys has allowed us to function independently, and means that we are no longer dependent on other local GAA teams to loan us their equipment when not in use. We were able to purchase top quality training balls and bibs which has made training more enjoyable and worthwhile and will increase our participation levels. We are very grateful to Waterford Sports Partnership for this funding for our club, which gives local mothers (and other ladies) the chance to participate in sporting activities.’

Please note that that WSP’s coaching and development fund grants are still open to all clubs,
