The Winter Walking Challenge is now in its second week and we have been getting fantastic reports back from the group co-ordinators. The weather is no match for our enthusiastic steppers, they are putting on their jackets, their woolly hats and getting out there - well done!

Winter Walking Challenge
Waterford Sports Partnership is currently running a Winter Walking Challenge programme which has been embraced by over sixty Waterford people. Over the next four weeks the twelve groups will be stepping it out every day, no matter what the weather, counting their steps (with the help of a step counter) and monitoring their progress. Their mission is to increase their number of steps every week.

Games for Understanding - Coaching Seminar
Waterford Sports Partnership is hosting the third and final coaching seminar on Monday November 26th focusing on Games for Understanding. This seminar will cover how coaches can get the most out of a game situation. This session will specifically look at adapting generic games to develop decision makers.
There will also be a number of practical games that can be used in any coaching session on the night.

Warm Ups/Cool Downs/Stretching Coaching Seminar
Waterford Sports Partnership is hosting the second of three seminars on Monday November 12th focusing on Warm Ups, Cool Downs and Stretching. This seminar will cover demonstrations from coaches on effective activities for warm ups, cool downs and incorporating dynamic and static stretching and will also cover core stability exercises for athlete injury prevention.

Personal Coaching Skills Seminar
Waterford Sports Partnership hosted the first of three Coaching Seminars in the Kingfisher Club, Waterford on Monday 22nd October. The first seminar Personal Coaching Skills was tutored by Peter Jones (Waterford Sports Partnership), Declan O'Leary (Coaching Ireland) and John O'Neill (Munster Rugby Development Officer). Coaches from Waterford City RFC, Na Gaeil GAA Club, Dunhill GAA Club, St. Saviours Boxing Club, De la Salle GAA Club, Waterpark RFC, Cricket Ireland, Na Laoch Dall Archery Club, KCK Athletic Club and Ballygunner GAA Club were all in attendance on the night.
