Age & Opportunity Grant Recipients Announced

We are delighted to announce that nineteen groups in Waterford have been allocated funding of 6,390 euro in total from the National Grant Scheme for Sport and Physical Activity for Older People.

Go For Life Grants 2018 - OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS!

The Go for Life Grant Scheme for 2018 is now open for applications. The deadline for return of grant application forms is 12 noon, Friday 28th September. 

Trishaw Launch

Last Tuesday 10th July saw the official launch of our Trishaw 'Saoirse'.

A Trishaw, funded through Healthy Ireland via the Local Community Development Committee, recently arrived in Dungarvan. We have named our Trishaw, Saoirse (meaning ‘freedom’), to communicate a positive message of Health & Activity for All.

NEW! Circuits for Over 50's in Tramore, Kilmacthomas & Cappoquin

FUN Circuit sessions for over 50's are now taking place each MONDAY in Tramore, Kilmacthomas & Cappoquin. The adapted circuit includes a range of exercises to develop strength, joint mobility, flexibility, co-ordination, fitness and memory retention in a fun environment!

Walk for Life - January/February 2018

Walk for life is back for 2018 - with five walks which will give over 50's and people with a disability the chance to get out and get active whilst enjoying the beautiful Waterford countryside.

NEW! MID CENTURY MOVERS Physical Activity Programme for MEN AND WOMEN aged 50+

Mid Century Movers is a NEW Activity Programme for the over 50's - get active, have fun and improve your fitness levels. The programme will run for six weeks with leader led twice weekly activity sessions.

Waterford team shines at Go for Life Inter-County Games

Eighty Nine Older Adults took part in the third Inter County Go for Life Games on Friday 2nd December in IT Carlow.

Go For Life Circuit Training for over 50's

We coordinated circuit training in Dungarvan Sports Centre for older adults during September and October. We are delighted that thirty five older adults took part in at least one session where the craic and banter were matched only by the improvements in physical fitness.

Walk for Life Series a great success!

Congratulations to the 98 individuals who took part in at least one of the five walks in our Walk for Life Series in September and October. 76 people took part in the final walk on the Deise Greenway in Durrow.

Over 50's - Walk for Life 5km Challenge

We are hosting 5 walks for people over 50. The aim of the series is to give people the opportunity to create links with others in their locality and experience some of our wonderful Waterford walks.

Irish people over 50 are now more likely to be active than inactive, according to a new survey from Age & Opportunity's Go for Life and Sport Ireland.
