Winter Walking Challenge - Update - Week 2

The Winter Walking Challenge groups have now completed their second week of the programme and are walking their way through the third!  Reports coming back from the group co-ordinators are really positive. The step counters are proving to be a great motivational tool, group members are finding that at the end of the day they often go for another short walk to improve on the previos days steps, that's the right attitude keep it up!
This week is all about improvements. We have compared the total group steps from week 1 with the total group steps from week 2 and then averaged this out by the number in each group and this is what we found:

This week we visited the Waterford Arthritis Walkers.  There are seven members of the walking group who meet every week at the Waterford Nature Park, Kilbarry. They find the fully accessible flat 2km route ideal for the different levels of fitness within the group.  For those looking for a bit more of a cardio workout they take on one of the signposted routes over the top of the Park. Great to meet you all!

We also checked in with the Striders and the Red Devils who are taking part in the programme through their school.  Both groups are not only walking in their break time but also discussing their progress in class, putting physical activity well and truly on the agenda.

We look forward to meeting more groups next week.  Keep up the good work!
